⁶ but yet am I fayre & welfauoured withal. Maruell not at me that I am so blacke: & why? the sunne hath shyned vpon me. For when my mothers chyldren had euel will at me, they made me the keper of the vyneyarde. Thus was I fayne to kepe a vyneyarde, which was not myne owne.

⁴ whiche are the Israelites. To whom pertayneth the adoption, and the glory, and the couenauntes, & the lawe that was geuen, & the seruice of God, & the promises:

¹ There were at Antioche in the congregacyon certayne Prophetes and teachers: as Barnabas and Symon called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, & Manahen. Herode the Tetrarkes noursfelowe. and Saule.

¹ The Reuelacyon of Iesus Christe which God gaue vnto hym, for to shew vnto his seruauntes thinges whiche muste shortely come to passe. And he sent and shewed by hys angel vnto hys seruaunt Iohn

² He shall growe before the Lorde lyke as a braunche, and as a rote in a drye grounde, he shall haue neither bewtye nor fauoure. When we loke vpon him there shalbe no fayrenesse: we shall haue no lust vnto him

⁹ and they songe a new songe saiyng: thou art worthy to take the boke, and to open the seales therof: for thou wast kylled, & hast redemed vs by thy bloud out of al kynredes, and tonges, and people, and nacions

¹ Ther was a man of the Pharises named Nicodemus a ruler amonge the Iewes. ² The same came to Iesus by nyghte & sayed vnto him: Rabbi, we knowe that thou art a teacher whiche art come from God. For no man coulde do such miracles as thou doest, except God were wt him. ³ Iesus aunswered & said to him: verely verely, I said vnto the: except a man be borne a new, he can not se the kingdome of God. ⁴ Nicodemus said vnto him: how can a man be borne when he is olde? can he enter into his mothers wombe and be borne againe? ⁵ Iesus aunswered: verely, verely, I saye vnto the: except that a man be boren of water and of the spyryte, he can not enter into the kyngdome of God. ⁶ That whyche is borne of the fleshe is fleshe: and that whiche is borne of the spyryte, is spyrite. ⁷ Marueyle not that I said to the, ye must be borne a newe. ⁸ The wynde bloweth wher it listeth: and thou hearest the sounde therof: but canst not tell whence it cometh and whyther it goeth: So is euery man that is borne of the spyryte. ⁹ And Nicodemus aunswered and said vnto him: how can these thinges be? ¹⁰ Iesus aunswered & said vnto him: art thou a maister in Israel, and knowest not these thinges? ¹¹ Verely, verely, I say vnto the we speake that we know and testify that we haue sene, & ye receiue not our witnes. ¹² Yf when I tel you earthly thinges ye beleue not: howe shoulde ye beleue if I shal tell you of heauenly thinges? ¹³ And no man ascendeth vp to heauen, but he that came doune from heauen, that is to say, the sonne of man which is in heauen. ¹⁴ And as Moyses lyfte vp the serpent in the wyldernes, euen so muste the sonne of man be lyft vp, ¹⁵ that none that beleueth in him perish, but haue eternall life. ¹⁶ For God so loueth the worlde, that he hath geuen his only sonne, that none that beleue in him, should perishe: but should haue euerlastinge lyfe.

²⁶ and hath made of one bloude all nacyons of men, for to dwell on al the face of the earth, and hath assygned before howe longe tyme, and also the endes of theyr inhabitacyon,

²⁸ Nowe is there no Iewe neyther gentyle, ther is neyther bonde nor free: there is neyther man nor woman, but ye are all one thyng in christ Iesu.
